Asian stock markets were trading mixed in the morning trade on Monday as investors appeared to be taking the cue from US jobs data released on Friday that showed moderate growth.

The jobless rate in September fell to a 50-year low, while nonfarm payrolls rose by 136,000 in September.

Further, investors awaited a fresh round of US-China trade negotiations set to begin later this week.

As per media reports, US President Donald Trump said on Friday there is a “very good chance” of a trade deal with China.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell by 0.3% after starting the trading day higher. The Topix index also gave up gains and fell 0.18% also, South Korea’s Kospi slipped fractionally.
